Sorry for your loss sick. You would've lost more if you played using 1% H.E. Mathematically, in the long run you will lose twice as much compared to 0.5% H.E.

You can test the house edge by this formula:

house edge = 100% - payout * win chance

In your case of 50% win chance and 1.99 payout, the house edge is:

house edge = 100% - 1.99 * 50% = 100% - 99.5% = 0.5%

If you were using 1% edge, the payout of your bets would be 1.98, this means less profit on your winning bets
