The goal of the GeoCoin project is to bring GIS & GeoTechnologies to the blockchain. By developing our upcoming Mapbox GeoCashing interface, users will be able to 'mine' GEO through Proof-of-Location (PoL). This process involves turning on your smartphone GPS and navigating to the location on the map to earn the GEO!
The total GeoCoin supply is capped at 4,000,000 GEO, and there are currently 3,170,551 GEO in circulation. The end of the Proof of Work mining produced a total of 3,401,125 GEO by block #1,568,125. The remaining 598,875 GEO will be used to drop onto the map, adding to the Circulating Supply at a rate of approximately 50,000 GEO per year.
