About fan guards and noise levels.
I have found that on all of the miners I have owed, they all run quieter without the fan guards. I don't recommend this if you have kids, pets, or are clumsy, but it's a much nicer setup imo.
Basically the fan guards block airflow, create wind resistance, and this creates added noise.

I'm a big fan of fan guards, I'd much rather my fans get blocked by stray pieces of plastic or paper than injesting them. Or injesting my fingers.
