Yes!
But try to make sure you can reconnect them later if needs be, although I don't know why it would ever become necessary .
You really only need to cut the positive (+ red) wire. Leave the negative (- black) wire intact. Less work later if you do need to reconnect.
And make sure you do this ONLY while the unit is NOT powered!
And remember, what ever happens as a result is solely your responsibility.
