- i can't believe that people want to fuck around with sidechains and altcoins when there's interesting work to be done in improving how the satoshi codebase handles block downloads
- the problem is that people are insulated from reality (least it hurts their feelings) and so they are also insulated from everything interesting, and in the end their own life.
- not only sloth, but avarice, is involved. nobody gets rich from honestly fixing satoshi's bugs. sc4mz0r1ng? promises riches, at least to the foolish

- this "orphans" routine though, i must say i love it. 'tis another dagger in my belt.

linus is rich, though, in that ~he can do what he pleases~. so is taleb. so is everyone that DIDN'T join the system. the only poor people are the "rich people" making 500k to 5mn a year to pay for their mortgage and college loans. cf. Modern Chumpatronic Engineering

orphan blocks and orphaned chains

snipping getdata and implementing as a rolling window

for non-usa folks: the 'college racket' does not consist merely of tuition and housing that go up ~10%/yr., but also miscellaneous vampirisms like textbooks that stay almost exactly the same but for the exercise set orderings, at 100-400 usd a pop, moving target every semester
