The power supply is a Seasonic SS-660XP2 platinum, which comes with 18 AWG pcie cables (I thought I wasn't skimping
). Although it appears the modular connector itself failed rather than the wire. I'm using 2 of these power supplies per SP20, with each PCIe power connector connected to its own separate cable from the power supply. I guess I need to dial down my voltage/power settings from the factory defaults.Quote

Power is cheap so I wasn't worried about efficiency, which is why I didn't change the settings any. Seems those are too high for the PCIe power connectors. Isn't the 6-pin PCIe power connector specification 150W max to begin with?
