Yes it should be taught in schools especially in Economics classes. I think it will be shortly but bitcoin is still pretty new but I'm sure they will briefly discuss it. Maybe in the future they will study it either as an economic success or maybe even a failure if it all goes tits up.
I teach my children what bitcoin is and they seem interested, they are the future users and I think they should be prepared. There was another thread about simplyfiing the bitcoin process to teach about the workings of the blockchain, using blocks and shoeboxes.
On a higher level it is mandatory in my opinion, when learning economics, the chain and the finity of the coin is revolutionairy compared to the leading currencies.
