Ross ulbricht was actually a very smart dude and the amount of technical and financial knowledge required to accomplish something like the silk road is quite impressive. Although he did make some stupid mistakes it's understandable considering he was one of the first to do something like this. People have learned a lot from ulbrichts mistakes and new dark net markets are safer because of it.
You can be very smart yet still stupid. You've also got to be more than just academically intelligent to run these sorts of markets. You need to be cunning and make sure you've covered your tracks. I'm looking forward to this documentary but it seems biased and made from the side that he's not responsible for Silk Road.
