I want to applaud Evan for having the courage to make the tough decisions.  If Darkcoin ever wants to go mainstream, a name change is indeed needed.  I for one absolutely love the new name!

Amen to that.

He's taken tough decisions on his own in the past in the face of mass screaming and shouting. The last one that was almost a carbon copy of this was when RC3 got launched and forked. He reverted it when everyone was telling him not to and if he hadn't done that we'd have been screwed.

I can't help thinking he's made the right call here as well - despite all the toy throwing.

When you actually sit down and put the logic together there is no other way to go. So what they're dumping. There's at least as many who never bought in because they though this coin had a glass ceiling due to a toxic name and wider market impenetrability. Even Bitcoin has a nightmare of a time over getting the "criminals charter" label slapped on it. Darkcoin's just a non starter for many.

When RC3's incident happened, I remember most of the members pushing for a rollback, not otherwise. That scenario also can't be compared as that's a technical aspect(Of which frankly most involved with cryptos aren't specialized in) This is something entirely different, as the name itself is one of the most important aspects of the coin, and what distinguishes it as an anonymous currency in the crypto world. Evan wrongly takes it upon himself to be the sole decision maker in what's suppose to be a decentralized cryptocurrency, not a company.
