I feel sick
I closed my Masternode and sold / am selling all of my coins. I spread this sale over several exchanges not to influence the price drop / change. Now I will step back and see how this would develop.
IMHO - Evan has caved to the political pressure coming from a more conservative members of the Foundation. Compromises never excite me, for the key point of attack to Darkcoin would always be its main feature - almost perfect anonymity. As such Darkcoin is on a forefront of fight for our freedom and our right to privacy in this surveillance culture we have to endure.
Compromising a well established brand that could've been a real instrument of change with several merchants that "might" with "no guarantees" adopt Dashcoin or whatever the "brand" will be is a sign of intrinsic weakness I dislike.
Wozzek23 you're constantly posting comments as if Evan's announced that Darksend has been discontinued and is no longer supported!
It's only the name that's changed, everything else remains the same.
AND.....Evan's made this extraordinary announcement that's been all but lost in all the negativity and extreme over reaction;
After giving it some thought, I came up with a scalable architecture that supports billions of transactions per day.
Specifications of this strategy:
The blockchain will automatically become much more anonymous than Bitcoin is.
Fees per transaction will be very, very low. Let the micro-payment revolution begin.
Zero-centralization
Scalable to billions of transactions per day
Requires a 2-tier network
Very low blockchain bloat
I read his extraordinary statement. And I wondered, if "MUCH MORE ANONYMOUS" does not represent what ELM4ever said on darkcointalk: "It's about enabling your Civil Liberties" why to squeeze / put "re-branding" AND all of this new strategy toghether?
Evan, in his original paper, Darkcoin: Peer to Peer CryptoCurrency with Anonymous Blockchain Transactions and an Improved Proof of Work System, wrote: "Darkcoin is the first privacy centric cryptographic currency based on Satoshi Nakamotos Bitcoin." That was the "true essence of the project." What is the true essence now if NOTHING changed? Just you guys believed some merchants "might" but are "not guaranteeing" adopt the coin but would not because of its name?
Groups of creative people in situations like this often blow up. We've seen this with vertoe. I closed my positions and will wait and see. And trust me, I am a Foundation Member (no one asked us anything), I used to own a MN, I am one of the Darkcoin Ambassadors (no one asked us anything) I have lost the money, donated the money etc., so I am also emotinaly invested into Darkcoin.
BUT - if Darkcoin is NOT going to be on a forefront of defending our Civil Liberties, but just an investment, fuck it. I make, in one day on FOREX much more than I have lost on Darkcoin. But FOREX is a money-grubbing scheme I despise, but I am ready to compromise there.
I am not ready to compromise with Darkcoin. Not in this phase for sure.
