Tok, think of it like a game of chess, the other player (who you have never played before so don't know his style) is moving his pieces around and you're not quite sure what hes trying to do, but you know from experience that hes upto to something and out to get you, after all the nature of the game is to take the King down.
And because he is such a good player, constantly distracting you all the time with apparent 'none moves', you don't see check mate until hes 2 moves away from doing it, and by then its too late to do anything to save the game.
This is definitely an attack strategy, weaken and separate the enemy, district him, place outposts everywhere in the oppositions camp(new sign ups at DCT for example) and finally go in with the killer move to the jugular (unknown in this case, save the joker until the end).
