I'm not mining anymore, but still hold some BBR. The long periods of silence with no releases makes me wonder what is cryptozoidberg collecting 1% of all blocks for? Not that it's a lot of money in terms of BTC, but is any work being done on the project to warrant 1% of all coins generated? I was never a fan of this donation/payment model, but I think especially lately it just looks like someone sweeping up loose change just for being (benevolent?) dictator for life.
I think this is a bit harsh.
BBR still works and is being supported. Whenever technical issues are highlighted, these are being looked into, investigated and resolved. 1% seems reasonable recompense for creating and supporting a coin IMO.
As for BBR developments, the coin is open source... 'Ask not what BBR can for you, but what you can do for BBR.' It's easy to bellyache about why others aren't volunteering their time to make enhancement upon enhancement, however anyone can make a pull request. CZ has made it clear he is open to collaboration (I only wish I could code!).
If the community is waiting on a new release from CZ (containing what exactly?), well CZ has said he's currently working on another project at the moment. From what I can tell no-one is paying CZ to constantly enhance BBR, it's a labour of love. I know from experience that passions are great however sometimes bills need to be paid.
Fact remains that despite the radio silence BBR still remains one of the (if not the) most technically advanced Cryptonote coins. So people can choose to invest, support or contribute to what it is (fast, user-friendly, truly anonymous PoW coin with no pre-mine and a sensible emission curve that doesn't penalise late adopters), or put their time, money and energy elsewhere.
