When you send that bet, the Dogecoin network generates a unique transaction ID. After the network has confirmed your transaction (we currently wait for 1 confirmation blocks), your transaction ID and block hash are hashed together using sha512 to produce a unique, provably fair random number that neither you or us can predict.

The first 2 digits of this hexadecimal hash give the map coordinates of the bone. The second 2 digits give the location where the shibe digs.

If the two locations match, you hit the jackpot! But if he's close to the bone, you still make a profit. Each dig site has slightly different risks and rewards.
