Why would someone skilled enough at hacking to steal the coins from another skilled hacker be then willing to return them to the rightful owners ?why would he not just keep the coins and be rich  instead of a small  bounty ?

The major btc thefts are almost  all well known exchange owners ,ponzi operators, karpeles ,zhou tong ,trendon shavers ,the mintpal  and BFL guys   etc ...

identifying them and their families is not the problem ,its what the fuck to do with them if they have been too slippery for the police to do anything........theres probably nothing legal you could do to them which makes the only option ...........something else Cheesy
It's obvious that you're knowledge on the matter is limited.
There are different type of hackers, good and bad (white and black). You can often read in the news how someone lost x amount of money, and the person returns all of it. There are such people in the world of hackers too.

Anyone who lost funds due to ponzis', online exchanges, online wallets etc., deserved it.

The Bitcoin police idea has been tried before. It didn't work.
Indeed. The capabilities are quite limited and the authorities are useless.

Its obvious youre as thick as shit so this will probably fly right over your head but lets give it a shot anyway .............
if there is a expert hacker who could hack back stolen btc ,he could also hack coins that havent been stolen
youre confused, white hat hack hacking is  the guys who test security systems for flaws and get paid by companies like apple and google ,not  outright thieves (karpeles, shavers  etc ) who probably never got hacked in the first place and  just pilfered everyones coins

If such a super hacker existed why would he not just hack the early wallets of satoshi and get an easy million coins that way instead of working for honourable  reasons  like a cartoon superhero .............

ps : love it how you blame the victims of every theft and say they "deserved to get scammed"
its attitudes like yours that make scamming btc more acceptable
youre a real credit to the community
glad to have you on board Cheesy

How is your attitude different, distrusting everyone has has the capabilities to hack. LaudaM states there are enough hackers that can hack if they want to, but have no intention to steal. Hacking satoshi's wallets or other early abandoned wallets is very improbable to ever happen. Most hacks involve active use of wallets, mostly done through social engeneering, using trojans and backdoors, not by brute forcing the wallets. Often people got scammed, that is not something only done by hackers, but if you got scammed in the digital world by being careless and gullible it might be a bit your own fault.
