I'll take vertoe's word over yours, since he was in a position to know how replaceable Duffman is to Dark.

The rebranding made it clear there is no fundamental tech or branding.  It all changes on One Dude's whims.

Darkcoin is whatever Evan does.  That's why vertoe left and nobody will replace him, much less Evan.  Bus Factor = 1.
