Can we have animated gifs?

Is it possible to have animated gifs in the new forum? They tend to be more interesting than regular images and I've seen them on some forums.
Anyhow great work. I remember people complaining over the course of time, though it was not a issue for me since I already had one.
I'm sure they will be possible but doubt they will be allowed. I think they were banned on this forum previously because they were becoming too flashy and distracting. I don't mind gif avatars personally but maybe an option to disable animated ones could be added for those that do.
