what do you mean with trick the SMF to upload .gif files? Can you explain better? Thanks.
Normally SMF forum doesn't allow you to upload .gif extension files. (It may be changed now).
But if you rename the extension to .png you can upload it as animated gif. (It should be under or equal to 120x60 px)
