You should know someone cant help you unless you give them more info to go on.

My wallet hung around block 3000 for five minutes but then it kept downloading the blockchain.

Apologies, your right, i am sticking at 1868 ish, ive left the wallet in for ages, but really i was posting to let the guy before me know he wasn't going crazy Grin

Hopefully I didn't come off as rude.
The bootstrap.dat should fix your issues.
I assume you're stuck with 1868 blocks left to download which would be around the time we transitioned to pos.
