I wasn't suggesting buying 10 cards, but you obviously didn't read what I wrote, but yes if the guy is in buying only for mining and only for VNL then it's better to wait and buy FPGA once the miner is ready.
Or just buy coins from an exchange. Some relatively small investment (20-50 dollars) will get you more coins than 1 gpu rig can ever mine.
+1, if someone is looking into investing this would be advised rather than buying gpus for mining. Even if the price rises you won't have a solid chance as a small time miner because farms will instantly jump on the train.
