The thing is, they don't care. No one can prove what happened so they are going to blame other people in order to not look incompetent or worse, like thieves.
It sucks but they're going to stick by their story.
The no one can prove part is not accurate, the blockchain shows triple spends from their adresses and John found a security hole in c-cex. Revealing the problem would be horrible for them and Yuriy simply avoids the confrontation alltogether.
I am still hoping for an official statement from them, the answers to their support tickets are more than annoying.
