i actually have this problem as well i never get codes sent to me on USA cell phone using Verizon and ATT cell phones. I always have to go with the " give me a call " option, then i get a call a few seconds later
well it worked for me perfectly fine before only today such problem happened i dont know why

did you change cell phone providers or your number? Maybe did you buy a new phone so now you are using same phone number but different phone? Not sure that would make a difference but trying to cover all aspects that might affect it.
