Totally agree. While i can understand some of the reasons for slack, i personally do not like it. It's yet another form of social media to get to grips with and monitor along with all the rest. I prefer to browse through here for information and updates. I would consider this far more important and usefull, yet we seem to be getting bloody slack forced down our throats at every turn.
All announcements are made on Bitcointalk, ShadowTalk, DevBlog, Slack, Irc, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook and Google+. And I think we made at least 2 announcements before friday in here and on saturday people start complaining about the lack of communication? Really?
No-one is forcing you to use Slack, just last week we implemented Slack-Irc integration to make it possible for users of each community to talk to each other just because we are actually trying not to force you to use Slack! There is a reason though to use slack. Just last week there has been 14807 messages sent on Slack, 60% were in channels (30+) and 6% were in groups, which makes about 10000 sent public messages. 20 messages per page, that will make 500 bitcointalk pages a week. Sounds like fun browsing through all those uncategorized messages, that you're not interested about. In reality, that amount of communication would never happen here and propably not on irc either, that's reason enough for me to focus on Slack.
