anyone got any input on this? unless someone can come in buy some coinage and start staking this coins going nowhere.

It's staking fine. The timer isn't a countdown, it's an estimate, the rest is down to luck. You just need to wait in line for a stake, took a few hours for me.
Besides, it's still in POW phase and lucky stakes haven't started yet. The block explorer shows that the C-CEX address is slowly draining as people withdraw to stake.
