It was funny. The other day there was a lot of people talking on Reddit about how the first technology isn't always going to be the winner, in fact often isn't -- Facebook, Google, etc. being examples. Yet with no variance they refuse to accept that there may be no divine providence guiding Bitcoin to the moon, and it can certainly make mistakes which allow other technologies to unseat it.

The guy from Darkcoin thinks he knows how to directly challenge Bitcoin, but I'm pretty sure there's only moderate differences between the cult of personality around him and the one around Gonzo.

One coin I like is Woodcoin. We've got this situation where each block produces less coin than the last. Recently someone developed a double-skein GPU mining software, and for awhile blocks were getting solved left and right. Now that the block reward has dropped pretty low, though, you notice the Woodcoin mining pool is near empty again.

So far Woodcoin is my favorite alt. It's hard as fuck to mine them now, and there aren't even that many on the market to buy.

I think it will catch on when it's too late, and then we'll see a fork of the double skein.
