Only certain mods can see it - I can't for instance - but I agree that if it doesn't need to be there then it should be removed.
You can't see the mail ids even when a report is made in a board you moderate? I got the impression it was otherwise from the post below
Only the specific board moderator(s) can see your email when you report a post.
As Muhammad said. I randomly only started getting them after the forum went down though. Had to change my email because I was getting spammed by them day and night. Hopefully in the new forum it won't require emails to be shown or I hope we can turn them off at least.
Obviously, I think it is not necessary this function and SMF is not very 'useful'.... maybe the new forum software will be really good (when it will be released or better if it will be released
