I can't say for sure that it's the reason. I've never had HDMI connected during the boot of any of these images. Did you try to access the rig via HTTP@192.168.1.113, ping ?
How are you making the image copy ? I am using rufus.
Does your SD card have 8GB capacity ? What speed Class is the SD card ?
Can you use a RPi model B instead if you think that this could be the culprit ?
There's a lot of things that may go wrong.
You have to keep trying with the trobleshooting since this image works for sure.
