that gambling is one of the reason why people lose money, because they see it as easy quick buck, then when is too late, they realise that they will lose everything and gain nothing

It's not a plague. Don't exaggerate. Most people can gamble and have fun and have no problems just like people can drink and smoke and have sex without it damaging their lives, but for some people they have no self-control and it can ruin their lives, but for the most part most people can enjoy all those things in moderation.
i'm not exaggerating, the others thing you mentioned are plagues too, dring, smoking, drug eccc..., sex not, because is a thing(not talking about porn) that is naturally for human, and it is necessary for the human race itself)
they are all the bad things that one should avoid, the fact that many do those thing, doesn't mean they are ok
i'm an open minded guy, i'm not against those stuff but they are still considered not good, people do it because they are bored, all that comes from boredom is a bad thing imho
