A list of marks is a handy thing to have for a scammer. Or when they refuse then he'll say "Oh well I tried...". He never needed this information to run the business, not sure why he needs it to close down the business.

Or maybe he's a govt man sent to take down bitcoin, and they want some names to add to their database.
