This number comes directly from "admin." One day I asked him when he's going to sell below market price Khs again and he quickly shot back with the $2.50 per mhs price. He went on to say that was his rate "direct from the manufacturer."
There are not many bitcoin ASIC manufacturers for sha256 and there are even fewer scrypt ASIC vendors, you have more fingers on one hand than there are scrypt-ASIC manufacturers. So for him to be citing an unknown manufacturer who sold him several hundred GH of scrypt-ASIC miners at an utterly absurd price compared to every other known mining unit you can buy sounds like utter bollocks to me.
You can check the going rate for scrypt ASIC miners that actually shipped all over this forum, from Innosilicon, KnC and Zeus, they all cost a large chunk of change to buy, far far in excess of what 'some guy in Brazil' claims to have paid for them.
No manufacturer would have stayed quiet about having a comparably cheap scrypt ASIC, there is absolutely no reason for them to and citing 'secret' ASIC manufacturers is ridiculous.
Besides:
I've seen him use the figure on several other occasions. He also said they mine up to 8 coins at a time.
As I said the other day, you can't hide 850GH of scrypt mining in the active scrypt networks, the hashrate you see mining is accounted for by way of the known scrypt ASICs produced during the second half of last year. So to suggest he has super-secret super-cheap scrypt-ASICs hashing away undetected is laughable.
