The Nem project is certainly not for you if you're impatient. We have been waiting for slightly more than a year for Nem to be launched. We didn't know exactly when it was gonna be launched until it was there. Also remember that the developers are entitled to have a life too (work and family).
Well, most of us have been waited for more than a year. But after the first release, the NEM devs should think about to do regularly minor release and less major releases to keep all the users staying with NEM. As a developer, i know how difficult it is to implementing, testing and maintaining such a platform but it doesn't help to keep supporters staying for a long time.
Last release is like 3 weeks old and there is already one - with some cool additions - on the testnet.
Nem has been out for not quite three months and there has been 5 releases. I know because I can see the different releases on
http://www.nodeexplorer.com/They are 6.26, 6.27, 6.28, 6.30, and 6.31. And like Pat said there is another good release on the testnet.
I am willing to bet the developers refuse to give a timeline and/or target dates for any of these projects...

There definitely won't be anymore hard deadlines set. It'll launch when Jag thinks it is perfect or near to. We will though give negative deadlines like "not this month" or "not this year" (but I hope we don't say that latter one. hahahaha)
The whole deadline thing before was a fiasco and a definite mistep. The thing is, NEM developers are working on multiple projects that haven't ever been done in crypto before ever. Yes there were lots of postponements, but NEM was the first with PoI, Eignetrust++, multisig notifications on blockchain, and p2p node time syncing. Anyone of these alone was a big deal and very innovative. And now that those are done, they continue to work on new things and work hard and only they will know for sure when it gets released.
It's a bit tough waiting, but if somebody really wants to speed up the process, the are definitely invited to come help.
