We are currently at around 250 GH/s

Would it make a difference if we "only" had 50 GH/s ?

I would say no.

Of course it would and so does the fact that the 250 GH/s is being provided by a very small number of miners...  especially considering that there are others showing interest in Sia which cannot participate.

I don't mine it since I get X10 slower rates than others and my chances of getting a block is too small in solo mining, and even if there was a pool why should I mine when others get much higher hashrates?
The price would also be evaluated by the mining profitability, meaning , less miners lower hashrate lower price.. everything is connected.

same for me, actually mining is in my case senseless, also i tried the new miner 1.0.2 but it's not really faster for amd cards (linux)
