NoScript (or other equivalent) browser extension provides at least some protection.
Somehow, most webpages use scripts.
I tried using it, but had to disable it when most pages stopped working properly.
Same thing happens with cookies.
Indeed, about 7 to 10 years ago, I would hear "purists" advise disabling Javascript, but these days it is really hard to use many sites without it.
You can try to hide in a dark cave, but life just isn't the same.
