Since about January 2014 I didn't find myself doing this.

I'm also thinking about having it permanently on my desktop, and I'm taking it further by considering getting a smart phone Bitcoin price app so I can check the price wherever I am. I'm always wondering what the rice is doing when I'm away from my computer.
Electrum shiws the updated price in their wallet app. It's pretty handy
