The decision to do this is not just a matter of finance and budget but is mainly due to personal reasons. I am starting my medical internship program soon and the hours are really long. Realistically speaking, I won't have any time left to spend on the site. Hence the decision
If it is not just a matter of finance and if I was you, I would prefer to pay my friend to run the site and simply split the profit instead of selling the site. But of course you have your own decision, wish the best luck of your medical program and hope the new owner will come soon and grow this site as well as you grow this site from zero.
