Regarding speculation: I am wondering if the dump guy is done now (could be several guys, but his blatant market dumping makes him unique I think). I still have a hard time comprehending why one would dump with +5% slippage, whereas he could've set up some asks and patiently wait until they got bought.

True. 80% of monero mining power comes from botnets. These people (mostly chinese) don't care about 5% - 15% price difference. I dont think this will change anytime soon
It would be helpful if you could provide conclusive proof of this number, or even any proof at all.
As far as these theorized botnet miners dumping at any price, I completely fail to see how that's a bad thing at all. Their dumping at any price means the people who actually want to own them pay *less*.
