If bitcoin were really truly anonymous in 100% It would be great, but there are ways i.e blockchain to track your coins. While it does not show you directly your location or name it can be tracked. But it is still better that credit cards or other online payments method
A currency to be 100% anon is likely impossible, especially if you want to use it to buy things online with. At the very least you'll then have to give an address and probably your name, but for other things like buying digital goods or subscriptions to sites you probably dont. I like that bitcoin can be as anon as you want it to be though and that is good enough.
