TL;DR Bitcoin needs instant transactions for true global merchant adoption, Vanillacoin now has ZeroTime : instant respendable transactions. All this without the need for millions of USD VC funding

While the lightning network proposes instant transactions, it's more of a scalability solution than a transaction time solution.

If VNL can prove the test of time and maintain blockchain security, it could be big but I don't think it will be anytime soon.
