Bitcoin has problems, and happens to be actually very poor code. It has served as an example of blockchain technology, and as far as industry and further adoption goes, it ends there. Bitcoin itself as a currency is the least interesting part about Bitcoin. It has shown a couple of interesting things though, governments don't like people printing their own money. It allows people to go off the radar and do things considered very shady or at best, grey area. Most people who have serious support for Bitcoin use case over traditional banking, do so because they're involved in something they just wouldn't have any luck with if regulated by the central authority.
