Any thoughts on why I would be crashing mining litecoin though trying to get the same hashrate? Its beyond me

Litecoin uses different algorithm for its proof of work ... and I bet your hash rate is 256KHash/s (not MHash/s) ... this is abut the max I got out of a 5850 when I tried it
