Maybe nobody wants to run a full node even thought it's possible. Theoretical decentralization doesn't help anyone.
Because it's cumbersome and not practical.
Maybe you skipped over "commoditization"?
Once it becomes trivial to run one then certainly more people will be willing to do so.
