Recently there were reports that some of the Islamist groups from the Western Chinese province of Xinjiang were trying to join the Islamic State. Also, there are several hundred ethnic Uighurs (Chinese Muslims) fighting alongside the ISIS in Iraq and Syria. I am not 100% sure, but it seems to me that the Chinese air strikes will be targeting these people.
