I don't have a big expectation about that coin, Tok. This coin will be sure centralized by the mayorship. Although I am sure this will help the poor here, we are really screwed in the south of Europe.
Neither do I, but I think the fact that these initiatives are being tried shows that the whole idea of monetary diversification is starting to put pressure on the institutions.

He knows all about bitcoin and blockchain based currencies but as with the Barcelona one, they're attempting to do a "fiat backed by fiat" job. Maybe it will take a few banana skins like these for them to eventually arrive at the 'real thing'.
