I like primedice. but wait for more than 30 minutes with average transaction fee but still no one confirmation. No time to waste on primedice today anymore. I will play tomorrow when it reaches my pd account.
That's an issue we can't help with.
Try adding a larger TX fee next time if blocks are being mined and you aren't having your TX's confirmed.
Why not make it so you can play instantly but you can't withdraw before 1 or 3 confirmations?
If it works like that, malicious users could deposit bitcoin and go all in immediately. If the bet loses, they can try their best to double spend the unconfirmed deposit transaction, and if the bet wins, they will just wait for a few confirmations, withdraw the bitcoin, and repeat it again.
Yes but 3 confirmations make it 3 times as difficult to doublespend, doesn't it?
So having 3 confirmations on withdraw would help. Or make it depending on the withdraw amount. 1 btc is 1 confirmation, 10 btc is 2 and 100 btc is 3. Better safe then sorry. And if people are playing with such amounts, they won't mind waiting the extra blocks.
Nope, the difficulty to double spend should be increasing exponentially rather than linearly as the number of confirmation increases. It is fair to say double spending a tx with 3 confirmation is nearly impossible.
But what Holdaaja suggested is that the deposit is credited to your account immediately even when it is unconfirmed, and so the malicious could attempt to double spend that still unconfirmed tx.
