Can I make a prediction that a few campaign's will end at the end of this week with a final payment to their signature carriers or even worse somehow 'encounter issues' that means they aren't able to complete payment this week (the big price increase would obviously have nothing to do with it

That is one reason that fixed pay campaigns with an escrow help to ensure the reliability of the service as it ensures that their is a budget for that month set in advance regardless of what Bitcoin does.
And on the off chance that a campaign manager defaults someone will pay it out.
