quick question: If the block finder is one of the top 4 miners, does the block finder then receive 3btc? Or the block finder get 2btc and the next 4 highest hashrate miners receive 1btc each.

Yes that is correct, so if you find a block (2BTC) and are in the top 4 for hashrate at time of block (1BTC) you would get 3BTC time is slowly running out so get mining
