What version of BFGMiner are you using? I've never been able to get my U3's working with it.
They are not even recognized by BFGminer, no matter what settings I use. Are you using the SiLabs drivers?

BFG 5.4
Running on Linux: both works
Running on Windows: cgminer with zadig, BFG with standard drivers.
But that's not the topic here
