maybe a typo?
No it's called
despo, as in desperate.
I was one of the first miners along with tacotime et al. We were following the BitMonero threads for a long time before it's release. It was fascinating to me how some coders like Noodle and Wolf are able to optimize miners with their profound knowledge in that particular domain. I think the term "crippled" may have come from them being able to see how bad it was to begin with because someone from camp CN thought obfuscation = difficulty. It has nothing to do with how unfair ICOs and badly mined coins have been branded instamined etc.
Even today XMR is priced just twice the initial OTC prices upon launch which was more than 18 months ago. There is hardly anything unfair going on now and it was never in the beginning either. At that time I thought dga's posts were hilarious but I wish he didn't post sarcastic posts which could be twisted by trolls. Anyways XMR's success will happen from needs and necessities. It is good that it is not an instrument for PnD like every single coin out there.
I
wish and sometimes hope that those who troll Monero are not too seriously getting taking over by their own jest. I do laugh with this thread and other attempts at that from time to time.
