What you are looking for with 10k is probably not staking, but rather the node incentive rewards.

If you have 10k, node incentives is the way to go since it's way more rewarding. Staking is only 0.7% yearly.

To be able to stake you just need to wait with coins in your wallet. The more txs you have, the faster you will stake. It can take longer if you sent that 10k in 1 transaction to the wallet.
