This is a bit ridiculous. I don't like the reptilian (rpietilian), and I wouldn't want to break bread with the icebreaker either, but cmon, Monero is one of, if not the most, solid altcoins out there.

So are you saying that Greg Maxwell, Wladimir Van Der Laan, and Peter Todd, all Bitcoin Core developers, are all shills pushing a scam? A bunch of Bitcoin Core developers who apparently hold (to them) trivial amounts of Monero are "shilling" for Monero? Really? Can you name a single other altcoin that more than one Bitcoin Core developer has expressed support for?
