I don't think it's possible to show 'proof of evidence' before launch. The point of a crowdsale is to get initial funds so that the project can get off the ground. It's risky, but that's why early adopters are rewarded more than latecomers. SOG didn't have a beta till way after the token sale.

I think the risk in SWARS is smaller because you are also getting physical rewards (if I understand correctly) when you buy into the token sale. With most cryptoprojects its just the virtual tokens and a promise that they may be worth something one day. SOG cards are virtual so their value is dependent on the success of the devleoper and the game. Physical Star Wars collectibles should be worth something no matter what.

Yes, you can have physical rewards shipped to you right away - you'll receive a crypto (Counterparty) token at the end of the crowdsale. You can then trade that token on the blockchain, redeem it for an ascribe record, or redeem it for the physical collectible. Here is a more complete explanation of each option:

Counterparty tokens:

Counterparty tokens are blockchain secured tokens which are stored in a wallet, just like bitcoin (a Counterparty address is also a bitcoin address). You'll need a (free) Counterparty compatible wallet to view your tokens. Some options are Counterwallet (a web wallet), Tokenly Pockets (a chrome extension) and indiesquare (a mobile wallet).

These Counterparty tokens represent the underlying asset - in this case authentic Star Wars collectibles. The advantage of Counterparty tokens is that you can very easily and cheaply trade them, using a variety of platforms including the distributed exchange inside Counterwallet).

Ascribe.io:

Ascribe is another platform that lets you securely store assets on the blockchain. The advantage with ascribe is that, when you redeem your Counterparty token for an ascribe record, you'll be able to see the data about the specific item you own, rather then just the category and asset class (as with Counterparty).

Redeem for the physical item:

As mentioned above, you'll be able to redeem the Counterparty token (or the ascribe record) for the actual, physical item which we'll ship to you. These are real collectibles with real world values (their values are approximately according to their asset class, with each class representing more rare and desirable items - Character; Hit; Hero; Legend).
